    Closer Than Ever

Told entirely through songs, "Closer Than Ever" has been described as a "bookless show musical." But don't let the lack of traditional dialogue trick you into thinking this musical, presented by the New Repertory Theatre, is lacking in story. The show's 24 self-contained songs -- with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. ("Fosse", "Miss Saigon") and music by David Shire ("Big: the musical") -- deal with topics like aging, unrequited love, friendships and mid-life crises. "The New York Times" has actually celebrated the show as having, "one of the half-dozen finest American theater scores of the last decade." Inspired by real-life experiences and stories, "Closer Than Ever" won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and netted Drama Desk Award nominations for both Maltby and Shire. And its message to value the little things in life remains as meaningful today as ever.

Though he's originally from the UK, house and breakbeat DJ Lee Burridge gained his biggest following while living in various cities across the world, including Hong Kong and Haadrin, Thailand. His club sessions are known to go on for several hours and focus heavily on the progressive style of house music. In the late 1990s, Burridge returned to London, where he formed Tyrant Sound System, a partnership with notable DJs Craig Richards and Sasha that played popular monthly sets. In 2006, Burridge attended popular arts festival Burning Man for the first time, an experience that led him to create a series of touring parties across the United States known as "GET WEIRD."

It has been hard to miss the incredible success of Panda Bear, which started in 2002 as the side project of Animal Collective member Noah Lennox. Panda Bear jumped onto the scene with a very large audience ready and willing to love every bit of it. Dialing in on the poppier, dreamier sides of Animal Collective, Panda Bear creates lush, thumping, songs with catchy melodies that are fun to sing along to, even if the lyrics are fairly cryptic.
