Located in the heart of the coastal town Holmsund, 10 miles south of the city Umea, the Holmsunds Tropikhus houses reptiles, amphibians and small mammals found in the region as well as from across the world. The house was inaugurated in the year 1999 and was originally situated in an old sports hall. It is now housed in the current spacious setup since 2003 comprising of various sections and attracts tourists in large numbers. The place is home to exotic snakes, lizards, rabbits, snails, cockroaches etc. The worlds smallest monkey, Cebuella pygmaea and other mammals like rödhandade tamarins can also be found at the tropical house.
