Gardening in the US became a social and cultural phenomenon during the time between 1887 and 1920. This exhibition showcases artists from the American Impressionist movement who depicted this pastime in their work. The Artist's Garden: American Impressionism and the Garden Movement exhibition features paintings, sculptures and books from such artists as Hugh Henry Breckinridge, Charles C. Curran, Cecilia Beaux, Daniel Garber, Jane Peterson and Philip Leslie Hale.

Computer Science For Elementary School With Code.org

Code.org has developed a free elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. The courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with unpluggedactivities that require no computer at all. Each course consists of about 20 lessons that may be implemented as one unit or over the course of a semester. Even kindergarten-aged pre-readers can participate. The workshops is designed for K-5 educators and content-area teachers (librarians, tech-ed specialists, etc.) interested in teaching the Code.org elementary school computer science curriculum. The workshop will cover content for all three courses and teachers will receive resources they need to teach the course.      Because of unprofessional behavior by past registrants, we are announcing the following policy: You must arrive at least 10 minutes before the class start time to sign in and find a seat. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you will be turned away and your supervisor will be notified (except when there is a weather emergency or significant MTA delay/shutdown). If you are unable to attend a class, visit http://www.eventbrite.com/mytickets and cancel your registration. If you are unsure about your plans or are unable to update the Eventbrite registration, please email tech@schools.nyc.gov at least 48 hours before the class start time.  If you are absent without advance notice, we will notify your supervisor. We may also require your supervisors approval for future registration for professional learning opportunities or deny you permission to register.

Steve Gunn is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from Brooklyn who introduced himself as a solo artist with is 2008 debut album, Sundowner. While he is known for his tenure with Kurt Vile's backing band, The Violators, he has also cultivated friendships and collaborations with artists such as Meg Baird and Michael ChapmamIn addition to his solo material, Gunn continues to push the boundaries of contemporary guitar-driven music as one-half of an instrumental duo and the leader of a trio, which includes his long-time friends John Truscinski and Justin Tripp.
