During the 1990s, the American public fell in love with swing music. While it's difficult to point the finger at any one cultural trend that would make people fall for a nostalgic style of music, there are a few bands that can act as culprits - one band being Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The group formed in 1989 in Ventura, California and after achieving mainstream success, (even playing a Super Bowl half-time show in 1999) the band returned to relative obscurity. But the band still continues to tour and release new material on a fairly consistent basis despite being nowhere near the center of the cultural lexicon.

Marie Osmond
Turning Stone CasinoMarch 16, 2015 8:00 PM
5218 Patrick Road
Verona, NY 13478
As the sole female in one of America's favorite pop music families, Marie Osmond paved her own road toward success as a solo country music artist and actress. While her brother Donny Osmond was rising to the top of the pop music charts, the family's management company convinced Marie to pursue a music career and sign with the Osmond's label, MGM Records. Her music style, which leaned more towards country than her brothers' pop music, was first captured on her debut single, "Paper Roses." Her sound proved to have crossover appeal, as her single broke into the top five of Billboard's pop chart and peaked at number one on the music chart. She maintained a stable career as a singer throughout the 1970s and 1980s, while also acting and hosting in several television spots including the variety show Donny & Marie, with her brother from 1976 to 1979. In the 1990s Marie appeared in Broadway productions as the leading role in The King and I and The Sound of Music, and eventually returned to the stage in 2010 for the original production of Donny & Marie: A Broadway Christmas, again partnering with her brother Donny. She continues her long-running and lucrative career in entertainment as host of her Hallmark Channel talk show, Marie!, and co-star of her show Donny & Marie at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, which attracts Osmond fans with Donny and Marie's hits from the past forty years.

John H. Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter ComplexMarch 17, 2015 7:30 PM
411 Montgomery Street
Syracuse, NY 13202
Visually striking and chock-full of iconic musical numbers, Chicago is a musical based on Maurine Dallas Watkins' play of the same name. The work of true Broadway legends Fred Ebb, Bob Fosse and John Kander, the show centers around a desperate showgirl named Roxie Hart who, on trial for the murdering her lover, steals the limelight from the it-girl criminal Velma Kelly. With the help of a sensational and highly persuasive lawyer Billy Flynn, the women leverage their celebrity status in order to be acquitted of their cold-blooded crimes. Filled with the jazz and glamour of the Prohibition era, Chicago is a social commentary on criminality and the cultural preoccupation with fame.

The Menzingers is a Philadelphia-based punk rock outfit that emerged out of the ashes of Bob And The Sagets. Blending folk, post hardcore and pop into its songs, the band offered an aggressive yet accessible sound that was first captured on its 2007 debut full-length album, A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology. The Menzingers soon earned the attention of Epitaph Records, who released its critically acclaimed LP, On the Impossible Past, in 2012.
