The theatre is located next to Söderhallarna shopping centre, and is connected to Filmstaden Söder via a pedestrian subway. In the early 1980s, the Orionteatern theater took over an old workshop. The aim was to preserve as much as possible of the industrial ambiance. The workshop interior dated back to 1929, while opening the space up for theatrical performances. Intercult's objective is to bridge ethnic, geographical and mental barriers through theater. This independent theater company was founded in Stockholm in 1991 and in 1995, the group was re-established with Chris Torch, formerly of Riksteatern, as artistic director and with 8 other group members. The Intercult's stage the Annex, is the hub of intercultural activities. In addition to theater, they also hold seminars, lectures and talks in accordance with their theme.
