Bars & Cafes
Pelikan is the pub and Kristallen is the bar, joined together like Siamese twins. Pelikan attracts the hip crowd, whereas Kristallen is more for young intellectuals. The décor consists of wood and candles.
Regev is rather unique in Stockholm. It's a dedicated hummus bar, with a sideline in espressos and fresh lemonade. Its limited menu is highly specialized and absolutely delicious. It is easy to be surprised at how many diverse dishes a cafe can come up with, when the main ingredient of hummus is the staple. Needless to say, this is not somewhere to eat your main meal of the day, but for a filling and tasty snack it is perfect. There is some pleasant photography adorning the comfortable interior, and this is one of the few places in town where you can hang out and use the house's backgammon set.
Visit this cozy café for fresh, home—baked bread. The timeless décor and relaxed atmosphere create a feeling of as if you are in your own kitchen, enjoying delicious sandwiches and freshly baked cakes. The cafe is open for breakfast and early—risers can grab a hot cuppa.
Arom boasts of excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. The décor reminds one of the the 1950s, given the James Dean posters on the walls. A regular café menu is offered, with brunch on Sundays. The area in which it is located, Eastern Södermalm used to be a calm area with a limited number of dining and drinking places. However, now there are coffee shops and restaurants all over the neighbourhood and this café is among the better bets.
Bla Lotus is a trendy cafe, where the atmosphere is relaxed and the clientele is extremely young. The food is spicy and has an Indian flavour.
A neighborhood tavern that enjoys a higher degree of popularity than its competitors; this might just be the hippest bar in Sundsvall. The service at this pub is ambitious and attentive. Their specialty drink is the Raspberry Mojito, and although their cocktail list is short, all of the cocktails are made with finesse. When you visit the WC Bar & Diner, don't be intimidated by the two burly bouncers at the door to this tiny bar, because when you are in Stockholm this is definitely the place you will want to bounce in to.
Located 25 floors up, Och Himlen Dartill gives guests a panoramic view of Stockholm while they enjoy fine dining. Such a location is perfect for a romantic dining experience while conference rooms are made available for office groups or parties. Since the view and the food are in high demand, reservations are recommended. The Och Himlen Dartill also offers a separate seasonal menu and wine menu, so no matter what time of year, there is bound to be something that compliments the appetite as well as the weather. Later in the night, the restaurant becomes a trendy cocktail lounge.
This is a prime example of how to recover after a night of chaos and rowdy partying. A wonderful place to meet singles and make friends, its only speciality, is not just salsa but also scrumptious tapas. The two floors of this establishment have a basement feel to them. Be prepared to have your dinner moved upstairs as the lower floor slowly transforms into a discotheque as the evening progresses.
To take a break from Stockholm' cold and grey weather, the best thing to do is to dash straight to Koh Phangan, an island with a Thai theme. There are bamboos and green leaves everywhere. In order to enjoy the jungle atmosphere, reach early and sign your name on the blackboard.
Tri Indier, a small Indian restaurant, serves wonderfully-spicy dishes and is well-worth a visit. Not only are their prices reasonable, but the servings are also rather generous. Try their Fried Saffron Rice, which is the most popular dish on the menu. After dinner, you could head to the bar Sjunde Himlen or "Seventh Heaven", which is located just round the corner.
This cozy establishment will have you relaxing in no time with the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. The restaurant features a French inspired menu with a Swedish flare. The bartenders are true craftsmen in their trade and create delicious cocktail concoctions. This no-fuss restaurant uses locally sourced organic ingredients, which is quite detectable in the mouth-watering dishes. The separate lounge and cocktail area is perfect for an evening nightcap, or friendly get-together.
Relax on Pierrot's welcoming couches and big armchairs. This cafe attracts a rather young crowd, who come to drink tea from large mugs and chat all night long. Pierrot is open extra late, and the menu consists of pies, grilled sandwiches and desserts. Smoking is allowed.
