House of Nobility (Riddarhuset)
Mo to Fr from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AMThe beautiful House of Nobility, or Riddarhuset as it is locally known, overlooks the confluence of Riddarfjärden and Stockholms ström in Old Town. While literally translates to House of Knights, it houses archives and records belonging to the Swedish aristocracy. Built in 1660, this magnificent example of Scandinavian architecture once functioned as the upper house of administration of the state. Although later on it was used a concert house that has hosted some of the best artists of the time (such as Rosa Scarlatti and Elisabeth Olin, among many others). As of today, the House of Nobility houses over 2,300 court of arms that represent all the families who were introduced here. Apart from that, there hundreds of lovely artifacts, paintings, sculptures and other artworks represented in different rooms at Riddarhuset.
