    »Sverd i Fjell (Three Swords Monument)

    The Sverd i Fjell or the Three Swords Monument stands tall on the the banks of Hafrsfjord as a symbol of peace in the city. The monument is actually a bunch of three bronze swords measuring 10 meters in height. It was built in remembrance of the great war of the Vikings that was fought in the year 872. The monument is located far form the city center, but the journey here is worth it, for the structure is awe inspiring. A must go for all those interested in the rich history of the city.

    Belonging to the medieval age, the Utstein Kloster is an ancient monastery and museum, which is a must go for all the lovers of architecture and history. This monastery is where the saints resided and followed their religion. You can take a guided tour around the complex which gives you details of the life during those times and the significance of the objects placed around the house. Do not miss looking at the dining area of the house, which has been preserved intact without any renovations. Included in the tour is the church and the garden with beech trees as old as 250 years. The venue is also rented out for various corporate and private events. The open hours vary for group and with seasons, so check the website before planing a trip.

    Kongeparken offers loads of fun for the entire family. Here you can make your own chocolate, try Norway's biggest merry-go-round, experience 2.5 Gs of force on your body, watch shows and theater etc. The fun never stops here! All rides are free with paid entrance admission (except gambling, horseback riding and Høydeskrekk). No entrance fee for children with a height below 90 cm. No entrance fee for children visiting the park on the day of his/her birthday. Free parking is offered. Dogs are not allowed inside the park but a dog kennel is offered during the visit. A free bus is offered every Saturday, Sunday and on holidays from April to September. The bus leaves from Byterminalen in Stavanger and Rutebilstasjonen in Sandnes. You are welcome to bring your own food and there are barbecues for free use in the park.
