»Lunch and Learn: The 17th Century's Little Ice Age

February 05, 2015 12:00 PM

Speaker: Tim Brown, editor-in-Chief of Yales SAGE magazine Affectionately termed the Little Ice Age, the period from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries saw cooler temperatures than the medieval period. During that time there were several particularly cold intervals, one being around 1650. What are the environmental factors surrounding this change? How can it be measured? And what effect did this changing climate have on the art, literature, and daily lives of the people who lived through it? Join Tim Brown, a Yale scholar pursuing a Masters in Climate Science, as he discusses this chilly period in Western history.   Bring a lunch or buy one at our Patuxet Café.  Discussion starts promptly at noon in the Accomack Building.
