A charming American town, Homewood is located about 28 miles (45 kilometers) from Chicago. Incorporated as a town in 1893, Homewood saw its first settlers as early as 1834. The town flourished at first as a farming town, because of the excellent topsoil, but later found prosperity with the advent of railroads and the town became an important cargo and commuter stop.
