An interesting passage grave and spectacular views reward those who climb to the top of Keshcorran, but it is the unusual line of caves that attract most visitors here. Strung along the forehead of the mountain, these caves are steeped in legend. Tradition holds that Diarmaid and Grainne lived in the caves when they hid from Fionn MacCumhaill and that the caves sheltered Cormac MacAirt as a baby with his wolf family. Archaeologists have discovered a more tangible history to the caves with the remains of cave bears, arctic lemmings, reindeer, Irish elk, and humans.
