Fiesta San Jose in South San Jose, offers a great line up of live music entertainment apart from its regular spin of good DJs. The place gets pretty crowded on weekends and is full of a lively bunch of locals. The music usually has a cool Latin twist while the bands often play traditional songs and corridas. The bar churns out some stellar drinks at fair prices, and there isn't any cover charge, so the service is pretty nice too. Drop in for a muy caliente party!
Supposedly, this is the longest bar in San Jose. Even if that is not the case, it is long enough to warrant entrances on both First Street and Second Street. A lengthy and skinny establishment, it caters to mostly working class types and locals who pound Coronas all night. There is a DJ sometimes, if you feel like cutting the rug a little. It is a good place to escape the urban sprawl. In fact, you can barely even notice it from here.
This Latino joint has been a favorite San Jose meeting spot for quite a while and once you step inside, you will quickly see why. You can listen to salsa music or dance to live bands performing high-energy Hispanic music along with a stylish crowd. The signature beverage is Jarritos, a tropical Cuban mixture of fruits and liquors that is sweet and refreshing. A very spacious, elegant establishment, it does not allow sportswear, so dress up while heading here.
Miami Beach Club is essentially an under-age hangout for those 18 to 20 year-olds who still want to go out with their friends and dance the night away. Although the club is small, they have two separate rooms depending on your musical preference between hip hop and electronic. A few nights a week they may offer up a variety of tunes including salsa, reggaetone and house music so be sure to check out the website for upcoming events. Some nights are 21+ too.
Club Oasis on the 2nd Street is a hip night spot, located in Downtown San Jose. The swanky club plays Top 40s and a great line up of Electronic Dance Music while hosting a young, beautiful crowd. Replete with great acoustics and plush interiors, Oasis is home of some of the wildest parties in the neighborhood. The facility is also available on private hire.
It's easy to miss Club Milano as you're passing by, but you'll be lucky to discover this hidden gem. Many say it gets a bit warm inside this venue during the evening, but bearing the heat is worth it for the fun tunes and dancing. Their Friday nights are quite popular, with couples grooving to some infectious salsa beats. The revamped decor really adds a dash of funk to this place.
This spectacular establishment has an elegant, upscale restaurant at the ground level, a nightclub upstairs, and a subdued retro dance place in the cellar. Located in a refurbished historical landmark, Agenda Lounge caters to many walks of life, from businessmen to jazz hipsters. In the Agenda restaurant, relax amidst the simple decor, relishing House Made Pork Pot stickers or the Chicken Satay. Sample the extensive selection of wines and single-malt scotches. Head up to the lounge and dance to live jazz, swing, salsa or roots music.
Motif is one of San Jose’s premier nightclubs. This multi-level venue is home to a restaurant, two bars, a VIP lounge and an outdoor patio. These spaces are unified by glamorous interiors and a sophisticated ambiance; the highlight of the decor is the artistic glass installation that suspends from the ceiling. The club hosts some of the most happening parties and club nights in town. Enjoy specialty cocktails and spirits to complement the contemporary food menu.
Azúcar is an ultra cool lounge serving the best music in town! It has a host of DJs playing each night along with regular live events. There is lots of dancing with dance instructors teaching the art too. Relish on mojito and tapas along with Mexican fare consisting of enchiladas and fajitas on the menu. The crowd consists of young locals out to have a great time. All in all, it is a fun night out package.
There is no better example of the cultural melting pot that is the Bay Area than this hip and happening spot. The Lido Club boasts of a Vietnamese dance club upstairs and a Mexican bar downstairs. You can decide for yourself how to operate while inside the place. Enjoy the Salsa music downstairs or, if dressed appropriately (the strict fashion police here have high standards), spin the night away on the dance floor upstairs.
The Blank Club is the only punk rock nightclub in San Jose. A full on live gig venue, it was voted as 'Silicon Valley's Best Live Music Club' of 2003 and 2004. The clubs silver tinged stage bursts with energy and the fans pack in week after week. Every band in the San Jose area as well as other bands from the state have played here at least once or twice. The drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is divey and intimate which makes this place a haunt for friends as well as couples. The place has impeccable acoustics, hence no matter where you are in the club you can enjoy the music loud and clearly. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays.
For the inveterate hedonist and the pure fun-loving, this swanky nightclub is the place to head to for a night of heady partying. Extravagant lighting and a cutting edge sound system team up with plush interiors complete with ornate mirrors, Gothic columns and polished vintage couches, to create an upscale and trendy ambiance. The place offers VIP mezzanines, ultra-lounge areas, a catwalk dance floor and multiple stages. As the DJs churn out awesome tracks, hit the floor and dance your stress away. If you are not the boogieing type, then get a drink for yourself from one of the many bars in the place, and just be.
