Yacht-Club de Québec is a wonderful recreation and learning zone for families. The history of the Yacht-Club de Québec goes back to 1861, when it was created by a group of enthusiastic sailors for yacht races. The club saw its fair share of ups and downs; finally, in the 1960s the club was officially registered as the Yacht-Club de Québec and it made this beautiful location, on the western bank of the Saint Lawrence River, as their base. The club offers various water activities, docking provisions at its well-facilitated marina. Yacht-Club de Québec is home to a sailing school, that trains people of varied age groups; you can enrol for group or private lessons. An on-site restaurant offers delicious fares; sit at the summer terrace, while enjoying beautiful views of the marina. A play area for children, barbecue zones, biking trails and a swimming pool are also available at Yacht-Club de Québec.
Club de Golf Cap-Rouge, a 18-hole golf course, is located in the Sainte Foy district of the city. Established in 1959, this members-only club welcomes visitors after certain hours. Better known as the Plains of Abraham, this is one of Quebec City's most popular parks and historical attractions. Commemorating the daring 1759 attack in which Quebec fell to the British under the leadership of General Wolfe, Plaines d'Abraham features two striking Martello Towers offering rotating displays and great views over the St Lawrence River. The interpretive center is housed in the Musée du Québec.
Parc de la Pointe-aux-Lièvres is located at the area where the Saint Charles River meanders in La Cité-Limoilou neighborhood of Quebec City. When the temperatures fall, and this vast expanse turns into a velvet of whites, Parc de la Pointe-aux-Lièvres beckons to snow-lovers to indulge in wintertime fun. The park offers a 1.5-kilometer (0.9-mile) long trail for ice skating. Snow covered slopes provide great sledging experience. At night, the park is beautifully lit up with melodious music playing from the speakers; the lights and the beats create a tranquil ambience. Roc Gyms is an adventure lovers heaven. This center provides one with a number of courses in mountaineering and climbing, such as indoor climbing, lead climbing, junior climbing, rock climbing, ice climbing and a many other technical courses. They also organize children's parties and day camps for kids.
The Parc of the Kabir Kouba Cliff and Waterfall is located a short distance from the city of Quebec. This public park features the popular Kabir Kouba waterfall, which is also known as the waterfall with the thousand detours. This waterfall is historically significant as it led to the growth of small settlements and industries around it, in addition to being an important geological site. An Interpretive Center chronicles and displays the history of the park and other information pertaining to it, and guided tours of the area are also available.
Baie de Beauport is one multi-faceted port. Various fast food joints catering to hungry mouths present themselves here. The food is absolutely delicious to say the least. Activities like fests and family picnics, not to forget camps and boating and career fairs too take place on a regular basis. The admission to the port is free but boating activities will cost you. Méchoui has mastered the art of charcoal grilling meats. On this country estate, not only do guests enjoy a flavorful whole roast sheep with country-style pâté and onion conserve, but they may also tour the beautiful surroundings, play golf and petanque, go horseback riding or do a little dancing. The estate is the perfect place for a business party and children are always welcome. In the spring time, the estate becomes a traditional sugar shack.
Parc de la Chute-Montmorency offers a multitude of activities for the entire family. In the summer, walk across one of two suspension bridges or through miles of parkland trails before enjoying a gourmet meal at the Manoir Montmorency. Winter can be just as relaxing, though daredevils can take an ice climbing course on the frozen waterfall wall of ice and snow. The park is located just east of Quebec City along Avenue Royale. Admission to the park is free but parking is charged.
Club Mont Tourbillon is a beautiful resort located about 15 minutes from Quebec City in the Laurentian Mountains, near Lac Beauport. Known for its rolling 18-hole golf course, a delicious weekend brunch and exciting snow rafting in the winter, it also offers snowmobile rides and has 12 kilometers of meticulously track-set cross-country ski trails.
