    »The Fixx

    September 21, 2014 8:00 PM

Conceived in 1980 The Fixx is a new wave band from London that emerged out of the original new wave movement in the UK. Lead vocalist Cy Curnin teamed up with drummer Adam Woods to fill the missing pieces in their and called The Portraits, a name that would eventually change to The Fix and finally The Fixx. While the band's 1982 debut album, Shuttered Room wasn't an immediate success, the band's follow-up Reach the Beach, released in 1983, captured a US audience. The Fixx's fame rose in the US while it remained relatively unknown in its native country, largely due to the rise of MTV in the early 1980s. Over two decades after releasing its debut, the band is still releasing new music in the same introspective tone.

    »Jordan Knight

After rising to international attention as the lead singer of the boy band New Kids on the Block, Jordan Knight launched his solo career in 1999. With a dance-pop sound, he released his self-titled debut record before allowing a more adult contemporary style to power his music. Turning down the tongue-in-cheek R&B of his former group for a more soft pop rock style, he released Love Songs in 2006, before reuniting with NKOTB in 2008. Knight has since continued to front his band on international tours, including the group's 2-year joint tour with the Backstreet Boys from 2010 to 2012, when the two boy bands toured under a single name: NKOTBSB.

    »Yuna

    September 21, 2014 9:00 PM

Gaining fame through MySpace, Malaysian singer/songwriter Yunalis Zarai is quite the success story. Though she had been writing and performing her own music locally since the age of 14, Yuna went to University to study law. While there, she became a MySpace sensation and in 2011 a US promotions company flew out to Malaysia to convince her to sign with them, eventually persuading her and landing her a deal with Fader. Her first single was produced by Pharrrell and immediately gained attention on iTunes and YouTube. With a sound that borders mainstream and indie pop, Yuna is likely to appeal to a diverse fan base.
