Bars & Cafes
The oldest of the lot, Rose&Crown pub is second to none in Rimini. There are just too many likable things about the club. To start with, the authentic English menu comes with a dash of Italian influence. The breakfast menu comprises of the traditional Indian eggs and bacon. Besides, some of the spaghettis, raviollis and pork dishes here are totally delectable. Although the restaurant entails a rather peaceful and calm atmosphere, when there are live performances held, it could put some of the most happening nightclubs to shame. Don't forget to try variety of beers that the bar has on offer.
Come to Lord Nelson's for beer and karaoke.
This is an Irish style pub, created long before the Guinness chain became popular. It is a good place to spend an evening with friends. There are about a hundred different board and table games, a fine fireplace and a range of beers and desserts on offer. It is cozy in winter, but also a quiet alternative to the summer bustle of the Riviera.
On entry to this extraordinary pub you may well be accosted by Captain Hook himself because this is an authentic galleon, the Bounty, that features a ship's crew, barrels, parrots and a ship's wheel in the basement of a hotel. In the midst of this rather entertaining idea, you can admire the skills of the barmen (or rather the storekeepers) as they whisk you up a cocktail, cook you a pizza or make you walk the plank to the dance floor. There are also hidden areas on the ship for those seeking intimacy, including a waterfall and the rooms of the poop deck.
Halfway between the city center and the beach in Via Pascoli there is a little bar which you may like if you are a fan of this type of atmosphere. Imagine you have ended up in a bar in the dark smokey alleys of downtown LA where the Chinese waiter eyes you with suspicion. The Drome is like that. You may not like it but it is still an experience to sip a drink (an 'uisaccio' in particular) or a coffee in a place like it. For the full American experience, you have to come late at night!
This classic pub is on Rimini's inner sea front (the more popular one). The Pinte has managed to carve itself a large niche of the market through playing excellent live music and it has always been popular with foreign tourists. Recently, the pub's kitchen has started to sell really good pizza; a perfect accompaniment to their huge range of beers and cocktails. During the summer, it is worth sitting at one of the outdoor tables to sit sipping a drink and watching the people go by. It is a little less popular in the winter, but it is still fun.
A cutting-edge restaurant from all points of view, the former Rock Hudson (which served milk from fake gasoline pumps) has changed itself in a thousand ways, offering its habitual and eclectic clientele very good performances and music one step ahead of other discotheques of the same type. During the winter, many very famous musicians stop in these parts, and it is not difficult to find Jovanotti, Articolo 31 or Samuele Bersani seated at a table drinking a beer while they listen to the rhythms played by the DJ Willy Sintuci. The musical selection ranges from Rock to Acid Jazz, from Groove to Tribal, but the variations are continuous and the rhythms so complicated that almost everyone is always dancing, from the cloakroom to bar. Friday night is for older clients, while Saturday night is strictly for the younger crowd; however, nothing stops you from trying them both. Slightly less crowded between June and August.
The Ombelico del Mondo (yes, belly button of the world), is a large bar on two floors, which is right in the middle of the beach at Marina Centro. They serve excellent food and cocktails and are open during the day and at night. It is a great opportunity to take a look at the beach from high up (and the one of the only places from where you actually can). It is a good place to go before the disco or for an aperitif on the beach!
Picture Miami, South Beach, Ocean Drive?! Imagine a little piece of Rimini Beach organized in the same way, with one bar after the other along the entire street overflowing with beautiful people who dance and drink until late into the night. Key West Cocktail Bar towers over the end (or at the beginning) of this area (Marina Centro baths 1-18): between palms, refreshment stands and good music, the visitor can truly be made to believe that he's mistaken the part of the world he's in. Like the bars in the mythical Miami, it is also open during the day, but do remember that (obviously) all of this is only true in the summertime!
Tradition and taste: these two words describe the essence of the gelateria "Romana" or "La romana" as it is known to the people of Rimini. Situated in the heart of the historic center, opposite the Piazza Ferrari, the gelateria offers ten different types of cones and cups filled with the best home-made gelato, which can be enjoyed sitting at the tables in the greenery in front. There are a couple of new arrivals this year: granite and soy gelato, for those who love the flavors, but hate the calories! Unlike some gelaterias in Italy, this is open all year round.
Mucho Macho is an excellent night out destination in Rimini if you want to catch a few drinks in a warm and relaxed ambiance. The dark wooden interiors make this place quite perfect for some quiet 'me' time or a rendezvous with friends. The DJ plays a rather subdued playlist without much cacophony, making it easier for you to enjoy your drink and just relax.
Capogiro is a small, cozy bar serving specialty Caribbean cocktails, appetizers and a delicious buffet spread. The ambiance is warm and friendly at this bar. This charming place is open till the wee hours of dawn and you can just relax and unwind or simply groove to the dance beats. This is a nice place to go, to have an overall good time.
