Seattle is an eccentric city that can defy expectations. The natural surroundings, including the Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier, have been inhabited by humans for more than 4000 years. After a shaky period of initial settlement that say small towns pop up around Elliot Bay, the city experienced several periods of boom and bust, first rising to prominence from its timber industry and then from its proximity to the newly discovered Klondike gold fields. Eventually, the mining and logging industries gave way to companies like Boeing, Microsoft, UPS and Amazon that employ hundreds of citizens within the area. If you are here, do not miss out on the iconic Space Needle
and Rock and Roll Museum.
