River City Extension is a New Jersey-based alternative country and folk outfit that dabbles in a variety of genres. Like trailblazers such as Wilco and My Morning Jacket, River City Extension realizes that more can be done with the often run-of-the-mill nature of the aforementioned genres. Punk rock edges, long buildups and anthemic, orchestral pop touches manage to work their way into the group's material, which has gained widespread acclaim for the manner in which the band presents it during live performances. Since the band's inception in 2007, River City Extension has done an admirable job of offering listeners a little bit of everything whilst still maintaining a cohesive and identifiable overall sound.
