Created in 1802, this museum is the oldest public museum in Poland. It details the history of the region, which has been very vivid - the area has changed hands countless times throughout history. There is also an arts and culture department in the museum, as well as an ethnographical and archeological department.
The Muzeum w Raciborzu has many interesting exhibits that are sure to provide a new insight into the local history and traditions of the area. It contains fossils and artifacts from prehistoric times to present. A few of the exhibits worth mentioning include the number of ancient dentistry equipment- drills, chairs and chemicals that are found here. Another interesting exhibit is an Egyptian mummy that was procured by the ruler of Racibórz for his lady love. An ancient Gothic stove, one of the oldest in the country is also showcased.
