Stortorget is the main town square of Östersund. It is known for the famous Gregorie market held here in March, every year. Formerly Stortorget, was one of the closed squares, but later it was expanded to accommodate the ever-increasing traffic. Call for more details.

»Frösö Runestone

Frösö Runestone dates back to the period between 1030 and 1050 CE and remains distinct in various aspects. It lies to the extreme north of Sweden and also remains the northernmost runestone in the world. Originally, it was found at the ferry base between Östersund and Frösön islands. The inscription of a serpent stinging its tail represents Storsjöodjuret (lake monster), according to a popular legend.

Moose Garden is a tourist company that has undertaken unique and interesting projects. It took over a abandoned moose calves, pastures and developed a modern farm. The moose droppings were utilized to make paper thereby contributing to environment protection and conservation.
