Walton, New York's six-day county fair has been held here annually for over a century. It remains a popular local attraction for families, and is a pristine location for the imminent carnival festivities held every August. Visit the fair's website for directions.
This trail resides in Delaware County, just one beautiful part of the greater Catskill Nature Preserve. It's ideal for leisurely hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country ski activities. Additionally, the Catskill Scenic Trail features 19 miles (30.5 kilometers) of scenic views along the former path of the Ulster and Delaware Railroad. The trail runs from Bloomville north to Stamford, then east to Grand Gorge in the Catskills. The trail is open year round.
Plattekill Mountain in the Catskills has something for every season, so if you are into more than just skiing, there are activities for the non-snowy season. In winter, there are 32 trails ranging from Beginner to Expert at the mountain, and the longest run is two miles (three kilometers). There is also a lounge on-site with food and beverages available. In the summer, Plattekill Mountain is popular as a mountain biking site using the ski lift to take guests and their bikes to the top of the mountain for a fun ride down.
