The Beards is a comedy rock group from Adelaide, Australia, that initially formed in 2005 for a one-off show. Inspired by the crowd's warm reception to its music, the band continued to play shows and slowly collected a cult following by the time it released its eponymous debut album in 2007. Having toured extensively through Australia and made special appearances at events such as the World Beard & Moustache Championships in Alaska, The Beards has managed to maintain its balance of rock and comedy with an affinity for sarcasm and a pop sensibility.

Rise Against are a Chicago based punk band known for their politically and socially driven lyrics and lifestyles. The group's style of punk is reminiscent of a lot of punk bands from the 90's (read: lots of powerchords, palm muting and octaves), though as the band has matured they have experimented more and more in using instruments outside the typical guitar/bass/drums lineup. The members of Rise Against are activists for human and animal rights, and are straight edge vegans.

The Los Angeles-based outfit Rival Sons is a blues rock band with a heavy-hitting, fuzzed-out sound. Since forming in 2008, the band has won over fans both for its songwriting and for its ability to hearken back to another era of rock. After self-releasing its debut album Before the Fire, in 2009, the band signed with Earache Records, a label known for its collection of metal bands. Rival Son's first full-length record with the label, 2010's Pressure & Time, offered a departure from the heavy metal mold of Earache, and the band's blues-inspired hard rock sound stood out sharply for critics and fans. Rival Sons went on to embark on several of its own headlining tours of Europe in between releasing records such as 2012's, Head Down.

Born in the New York no-wave scene of the early 1980s, Swans is a post punk band led by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira. Though the band remained a well kept secret of the underground music scene, the group went on to influence several experimental and art rock groups in the subsequent decades. With spooky instrumentals and baneful vocals, Swans creates an extremely menacing style of music that has been kept alive by its cult-like following. Though the band has experienced a large amount of line up changes and even broke up in 1997, Swans reformed in 2010 and began to once again spread its no wave sound to a new generation of fans.

No, some guy in a beret and a black polo shirt will not enter the stage and read some incoherent phrases here. Instead, as always, a nice jumble of performance poetry, dub poetry and dance is to be expected at Stockholms Poesifestival (Stockholm Poetry festival). Jamaican Jean 'Binta' Breeze and Danish Suzanne Brögger are two of the performers. Swedes Bob Hansson and Peter Walhbeck will show up too. The venues change each year, so keep yourself tuned in.
