This specialty restaurant is one of Sweden's most venerable entrants in the slow food, sustainable cuisine movement. The dishes center on the techniques of haute cuisine but with each detail controlled for sustainability, from the farming practices to the cooking itself. The quality and care used to prepare the meals is evident in every bite, and though the price is a bit high, the taste and healthy quality of the offerings cannot be beat. There is also a decent selection of sustainably produced wines.
This little trattoria is a slice of Italy in the heart of Lund. A local favorite, its hearty pastas, meat dishes and salads make for a wallet-friendly option among many more expensive options. There is also a full bar and a respectable selection of wines.
The New Delhi Tandoor is one of Lund's favorite choices for spicy Indian food. The dishes are all gluten-free and include several vegetarian options. They also offer a scale of spiciness from very mild to sweat-inducing heat, and both Indian food aficionados and novices will find a lot to enjoy here.
Glorias bills itself as the only authentic sports bar in Lund. Its warm, congenial interior, numerous TV screens and hearty beer and bar food make it a great place to meet friends as well as to watch a game (though of course being Sweden, the games are more likely of the soccer-and-hockey variety than American football and baseball).
Vegegården is one of those restaurants that becomes a staple after the first time you dine there. The food is delicious and fresh but not too highbrow or complicated, the prices are middle-of-the-road and the combination makes this into the sort of place that's a fit for special occasions or just when you don't feel like cooking.
Paddy's is a taste of Ireland in the heart of Malmo right by the bustling Town Square. This Irish restaurant serves up delightful, home-cooked meals to diners who stop by for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A good idea would be to sample the seafood soup, grilled pork with fried potato and Swedish fillet. After-work happy hours keep the office-goers happy, while tourists and expats are frequent visitors too. Check website for more information.
This restaurant is situated in the historic Rådhus (city hall) and has been an eatery for centuries (though not under the same ownership). The food is heavy and filling, and more meat-and-potatoes kind of fare than friendly for vegetarians or alternative-diet folks. Beer is the usual accompaniment here, but wine can be paired well with some elections as well.
Established in 2001 by Bengt Hansson and Andreas Pieplow, this restaurant and entertainment venue has grown into a popular place among locals. Several events are organized here throughout year, including plays, stand-up comedy, concerts and Christmas shows. The spacious restaurant, with its high ceilings and excellent view over the water, also makes for a great lunch spot. It is about a seven minute walk from Central Station.
Etage is one of the most refined and classy dining experiences in the city. At night, it transforms into a dance palace, and in both its guises it attracts the best and brightest of Malmö's elites.
This house, built by prominent Malmö resident Jörgen Kock in the 18th Century, is an artifact of a bygone era and a very-well preserved piece of local history and architecture. It now houses a well-regarded restaurant, but there are also several nods to the building's rich heritage.
This restaurant features Izakaya, or Japanese tapas. Many of these constitute Yakitori skewers, or deliciously marinated meat on shish kebab skewers. There is also a limited menu of sushi, noodles and other small dishes. These all are a treat, especially with the selection of Japanese beers and sakes available at the bar.
This delightful little restaurant on Larochegatan in the city center features a mix of Iberian and Gallic culinary favorites. Spanish tapas share menu space with rich french dishes and Spanish paellas, and there is something here to please any palate.
