January 28, 2015 11:00 AM

Be among the first to see the newest animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd., a madcap musical fairy tale that draws inspiration from "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Popular songs from the past six decades help to tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic use world-class animation and visual effects to bring to life the fanciful forest turned topsy-turvy. Directed by Gary Rydstrom ("Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation, Lifted") from a story by George Lucas, "Strange Magic" hits movie theaters in late January.

Boy is a folk duo based out of Hamburg, Germany, that makes delicately arranged, pop-inspired songs that bring to mind pastorally tranquil late summer afternoons.Composed of multi-instrumentalist singers Valeska Steiner and Sonja Milena Glass, the group's music might be instrumentally sparse, but the duo's lyrics and vocal poignancy help add layers of depth to many of Boy's songs.Releasing its debut album, Mutual Friends, in 2011, the group has since been busy building an international fan base with a packet multi-national touring schedule.

»Heyday

January 28, 2015 9:30 PM

Formed by a group of high school students whose former Americana roots rock band had broken up, The Heyday came about in the spring of 2006. Instead of focusing on playing shows, the five-piece decided to spend its time and energy on writing songs and perfecting its sound, which led to a demo that caught the attention of local producers who offered to help make the band's full length. The result has been a radio-friendly form of pop rock with a slight country twang and has aided the Denver-based band in building an impressive fan base.

»Clinic With Sabo (Sol*selectas) & Guests

January 28, 2015 10:00 PM

Formed in 1997 in Liverpool, Clinic sought to disassociate itself from its native town's other celebrated band. In an attempt to do this, the group developed a distinct image that involved using primarily flea market keyboards and organs, as well as donning surgical masks during performances and press photos. The band's unique sound and image was noticed by prominent indie label Domino records, who signed Clinic in 1999 and has released the band's albums ever since. Though the group is more prominent in the UK, it still has a solid fan base in the US and tours in both countries frequently.

»Broadway's Mandy Gonzalez

January 28, 2015 8:30 PM

Her Elphaba was "Wicked" good, her Princess Amneris was the showpiece of "Aida" and her Nina in "In the Heights" clinched a Drama Desk Award. In short, Mandy Gonzalez has elevated every part she has taken on, raising Broadway standards and astonishing audiences along the way. Now Gonzalez comes to Catalina Bar and Grill for another "classic" role: chanteuse. Join her for "Love, All Ways", an unforgettable evening of great music and great fun. Expect hit tunes like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Breathe" and the "Wicked" showstopper "Defying Gravity," along with songs by Elvis, Tina, Aretha and beyond. No wonder "Broadway.com" called her recent performance of this show "one of the best."
