(Howl Hollywood) Howl at The Moon was founded in 1990 with the concept of a bar centered around dueling pianos. The stage has two baby grand pianos that are played by the best regional talent available. The show features two pianists ("ringmasters") at a time that play for an hour, then are joined by two more pianists for a couple "four-way" songs. The new pianists then take over for the next hour and the cycle of sing-along fun begins again. They also feature "showtime" that includes all Howl employees and patrons in choreographed routines to well-known songs and jingles.
This has been the place for live jazz in the Valley for nearly 30 years. The cozy little haunt attracts major players and minor ones alike. The acoustics are great as long as the guy next to you doesn't bang his fork against his plate too often. It's hard to blame him, as the house specialty is huge potatoes baked with a variety of toppings. Potatoes and jazz? It's a great combo and you should try it to believe it.
Located above the Hollywood Skyline, a fancy lounge with five star dining. Underground parking and valet.
Don't hope to get in here unless you know the owner, or are a famous celebrity. For those lucky enough to squeeze through the door, the top-notch egoistic airs don't take too long to sink in. The white patio, with its bar and cozy seating made it a perfect place for J Lo to celebrate Ben Affleck's 31st birthday, no expenses spared. The shiny VIP area is well-draped, and the dance floor has spectacular 80's lighting, which gets the stars, and their following, on their feet. Food includes exotic-sounding dishes and delicious desserts. Try the shrimp or lobster; they won't let you down. Follow it up with a diet-breaking chocolate as you watch the stars strut their stuff.
