»Lady Gregory Of Coole Autumn Gathering

    September 26, 2014

Lady Isabella Augusta Gregory played a pivotal role in the 19th-century Irish literary reawakening. Translator of Irish legends and folklore, writer of comedies and fantasies, director for the Abbey Theatre, and lifelong patron of William Butler Yeats, Lady Gregory was active in many artistic areas. Although her stunning home is no longer standing, several other buildings remain and the area has been developed as a national park, marking her connection with Yeats. It is particularly appropriate that the weekend celebrating her contributions is held on her former estate. Highlights include lectures, discussions, plays, and a guided walk through Coole Park woods.
