These two seaside towns are very beautiful. Lying beside one another, they can be visited together. Santa Maria al Bagno was inhabited during the Roman era as is shown by tombs built at the port. It stands on a pretty, rocky inlet bounded by rough coastline. S.Caterina is dominated by the square towers of S. Caterina and the Alto near the remains of a Basilian abbey. The panorama ranges from the coast right round to Gallipoli.
