This beautiful structure in Glens Falls, that was once the home of Zopher, his wife Catharine and their eight children, functions as a museum depicting the history of the town. Zopher DeLong was a hardware merchant, and a tour of this house gives visitors a glimpse into the 19th-century lifestyle. The house is a two-story brick structure that blends Italianate and Second Empire styles. Apart from preserving this family abode, the Chapman Historical Museum, also exhibits artifacts, documents reflecting the local past and is home to a research archive.
The Hyde Collection is an art gallery and museum located in Glenn Falls, New York. It is located in a historic house called Hyde House, which was built in 1910. The Hyde House was opened as a museum in 1963 and it has sculptures, furniture, books and other artifacts on display. The highlights of the museum are artworks by renowned artists like Van Dyck, Van Gogh, Picasso and Renoir among others. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
Marcella Sembrich of the Metropolitan Opera opened the studio as a venue for coaching students. The building served this purpose till Sembrich passed away in 1935 and, this property was then converted to a museum. This museum was established to preserve her legacy and promote classical music. The Grant Cottage is a historic house located in Wilton, New York. Built in 1872 by Duncan McGregor, the Adirondack mountain style cottage was the place where President Ulysses S. Grant breathed his last and penned his memoirs. Today, the house has been turned into a museum and features artifacts and furnishing from the 1880s, as well as the bed on which President Grant died. The site is a New York State Historic Site.
