Flocked by thousands of poetry lovers from all over, Alsters Herrgard is a popular manor that served as a birthplace for the celebrated Swedish writer, Gustaf Froding. The construction of the manor dates back to the 13th century with several renovations in the later years. The edifice that one visits today was done by Froding's grandfather who reconstructed it on the lines of neoclassical architecture. Within is a memorial museum, dedicated to Gustaf Froding, that displays a collection of the writer's personal memorabilia. Apart from that, the Alsters Herrgard also serves as a cultural center where theatrical acts, concerts, exhibitions and other local events take place on a regular basis.
