    »Miley Cyrus

    September 28, 2014

Miley Cyrus is an American singer, songwriter and actress who rose to fame as the star of the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. Earning a rabid tween fan base and cashing in all all things Hannah Montana, including merchandise, concerts, recordings and feature films, she began to break out on her own. She released her debut album under her own name, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, in 2007. After two more studio LPs and the commercial hit single, "Party in the U.S.A.," Cyrus completed the final season of Hannah Montana in 2011. Afterwards, she immediately began shedding her clean teen idol image with not only more sexually explicit material, but with even more controversial behavior. She released her fourth studio album, Bangerz, on RCA Records in 2013, earning widespread attention for the drug-inspired single "We Can't Stop," and its accompanying music video.

Forming in Glasgow, Scotland in 2002, Franz Ferdinand has gone on to become one of the few Scottish bands in the annals of pop music to reach such a high peak of international acclaim. Despite such massive success, this indie rock band kept close to its musical convictions, with a glamorous and energetic sound that reached its peak with the group's smash hit album You Can Have it So Much Better, released in 2005.

    »Exodus

    October 05, 2014

When looking at the plethora of thrash metal bands that arose out of the San Francisco Bay Area in the early '80s, it's easy to get confused with all the groups and decipher which band is actually the best. Of course, Metallica was the group that rose to fame, broke big, sold out then got lame; but the band Exodus (that formed in 1980 with future Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett) managed to stay true to its original sonic ethos, remain slightly underground and earn its stripes as one of the most influential and pioneering thrash metal acts ever. Though the band has experienced a number of line up changes over its nearly three decade existence, the group still tours and with year upon year of unrelenting touring Exodus has become one of the best hard rock concerts a metal head can brag about seeing.

    »Dream Theater

    October 05, 2014 8:30 PM

Dream Theater is a progressive rock band that was formed in 1985 by musicians who were studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Distinguishing itself with virtuoistic instrumental arrangements and nontraditional time signatures, Dream Theater built a reputation for itself as an extremely skilled band that favors substance over style. Though the group's co-founder and drummer Mike Portnoy left the group in 2011, after trying out several adept drummers, drum prodigy Mike Mangini was brought aboard to fill Dream Theater's rhythmic void.
