Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the only national park in the state of Ohio. It was established in 1974 as the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area, and was designated as a national park in 2000. It is spread over 20,339.22 acres (8230.99 hectares). There are a lot of fun activities for visitors which includes cycling, hiking, waterfalls, caves and animal life.
Owned by Peak Resorts, this site is features a pair of ski resorts in Ohio, developed in the 1960s. The skiing operations are done from Boston Mills which is the more active resort, Brandywine being the lesser active with fewer operating hours. Between the two peaks, there are 18 trails of various skiing levels, a tubing park, four terrain parks and two beginners’ trails. The historic parcel of land that Hale Farm & Village is built on was donated to The Western Reserve Historical Society by Clara Belle Ritchie. Historic buildings from around the country were relocated to the land to create a living history museum and village called Wheatfield. Visitors will learn about life during the Civil War and the history of the region. Exhibits relating to fashion, technology, and other subjects can be seen here as well.
In 1994, the Barrington Golf Club created this 18-hole signature course and has a been a huge crowd-puller since. The elegant course moves through lakes and forested area creating a great experience. The club also has a gym and other indoor sport facilities. When you think you've had your fill of activity, you can head to the clubhouse where members and guests can relax and socialize. This sprawling green stretch of land was donated by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and hence, the name, Goodyear Heights Metro Park. Opened in 1930, over the period of time, more trees and flower shrubs were planted and additional land was acquired, today visitors can see variety of beautiful trees and plants like oaks, tulip trees, pines, red maples and so forth. Apart from greenery and perfectly maintained lawns, the Goodyear Heights Metro Park also has excellent sporting facilities including sports like hiking, fishing, baseball and softball. Here, you can enjoy different activities with your friends or simply explore this wonderful park featuring a pond, paved walkways and shady woods. This is the nation's oldest civic garden, dating back to 1930. It is divided into herb, wildflower, rose, perennial and Japanese gardens. More than 3000 species of trees and shrubs fill the garden. This non-profit community resource center offers information on landscaping and horticulture. The garden library has a section for youngsters, and visitors can choose from several programs such as preschoolers' story times, crafts and gardening classes.
