Beauty & Spas
You can find this old barber's shop along the sea front in Via Canneto off the Vico Caprettari. It dates back to 1922 and is perfectly furnished in Art Decco style, making it well-worth a visit. They have recently been bought by FAI who have skillfully restored the building, refitting the windows, mirrors and floral decoration. Now back to its old splendor, FAI have reopened it as a barber's shop.
Built in 1935 and renewed in early 2008 after 16 years of closure, this complex is particularly adored by citizens and is not only the biggest in Genoa, but actually the second largest in Italy after Foro Italico in Rome. It is also the most important swimming stadium in the country, with its five pools (two of which are covered) and its 3000 square meters (33,000 square feet) of fitness area. This area includes a skating rink, a mega-gymnasium, a pool reserved for aqua-gym, free admission to Turkish baths, water massage, sauna, and an available aesthetician. You will not have difficulties finding a parking spot since there are 146 available free of charge.
Genoa's 105 Stadium is one of the city's premier event venues that shows big-production musicals and big-name Italian singers in concert. Built in 2003 as the Mazda Palace and then the Vaillant Palace, today it is 105 Stadium that also houses a Virgin Active gym with up-to-date, new equipment.
Coming from the city center and taking the fast road to the left shore of the Torrente Bisagno, one can't help being struck by the great, black profile of the covered swimming pool of Sciorba. Similar to a hangar, this transforms into an open air pool, by taking off the motorized cover, which is an excellent solution to the Genoan climate. It only takes a few minutes to take the cover off and so it can always be a last minute decision depending on the weather. This is one of the best municipal, sports centers, planned by the architect Zoppini in 1992, it has four pools, two of which are covered and an Olympic pool with a gallery for 600 people. During the summer season the area of Sciorba becomes 'another beach' for the city, and is especially favored by people who don't have the time to go to the sea and can take advantage of the large parking facilities.
