A fine Co-op art gallery in downtown DuBois, the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art currently represents 16 artists whose mediums include watercolors, stained glass, photography, pastels, blown glass, silk painting, wood and jewelry. Artist workshops in such mediums as stained glass, silk painting, and watercolors are offered.
The Coolspring Power Museum boasts an amazing collection of machines made from iron that were used during the infamous World Wars and in devastating oil fields. While most of them were sold as scrap by the owners, others were preserved and now find their way into this heritage museum. The museum staff are knowledgeable and know how to operate every machine throughout. A visit here promises to be exciting.
Established on 21st May 1964, the Elk County Historical Society is housed inside a wonderful Victorian house which still contains original Victorian furniture. Those wanting to research the history of the region can do so in the well-stocked genealogy research room or even pick up valuable material from the resident bookstore. The Robinson Museum displays numerous vintage artifacts that are evocative of the regions rich history. Check website for varying dates.
The Clearfield County Historical Society Museum is open from the first Sunday in May through the last Sunday in October. Visitors can view displays of artifacts of early inhabitants, military memorabilia, period furnishings, and photos, among others. The library features several sources for genealogists. While outside, be sure to visit the cabin and carriage house.
Grice, a non-profit organization, is a classic car and trophy game museum. Exhibits include a 1934 Ford four-door sedan, 1959 Cadillac convertible, 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express, McLaughlin Jumpseat Carriage, African game mounts, a 1929 Model A Street Rod, 1925 Ford Model T 1-ton truck, Crosleys, and much more.
