The Carmel Valley Recreation Center is a well maintained area, open to the general public and not restricted just to local members. It is ideal for children who would like to learn swimming, tennis, basket ball, volleyball and other outdoor sports. Summer camps are regularly conducted for seniors as well. Excellent facilities for open air barbecue are available for those who would like to have picnics in the lawns. The Carmel Valley Fiesta Week and other local events are held here.
Since this driving range is located across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds, it should be fairly easy to follow the road signs to the general area. The staff is pleasant and offers individual and group lessons for a fee. The range is lit, so evening play is always possible, except when it is raining. All 60 of the stations are covered with astro-turf. In addition, the Del Mar Golf Center also offers 4 putting and chipping greens, a green side bunker, and a full-service golf shop. Don't forget that when the fair is operating nearby, the traffic around this area can be quite heavy.

For those who prefer to stay on dry ground, take advantage of the basketball court, picnic facilities and campfire rings. With all of this activity, safety is a priority at this location. Lifeguards are on duty year round. In addition, a junior lifeguard program is offered during the summer. Rest rooms and shower facilities are also available.
For a family trip to the beach, Tide Beach Park is the ideal place. This spot is sort of an activity ground for everyone. Tame activities include trekking along the public stairs to a scenic view, observing reefs and tide pools. Meanwhile, active participants may enjoy surfing, swimming and snorkeling. The park offers shower and picnic facilities as well. Lifeguard services are provided during the summer months only so guests are advised to exercise caution.
This 18-hole public golf course has an ocean view with scenic surroundings. Offering challenging varieties from one hole to another, the place is perfect to brush up one's golf skills. With 16 par-3 holes and two par-4 holes, the course is complete fun. Power carts and clubs are available for rent. This is the only course in the greater San Diego area designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio. Facilities include a restaurant, driving range (manned by golf professionals) and a fully stocked pro shop. Fees: USD110 Monday through Thursday; USD140 Friday through Sunday. Twilight rates are also available: USD70 Monday through Thursday; USD80 Friday through Sunday. In addition, guests who call for reservations more than seven days in advance may receive reduced rates.
