Formerly known as Queenstown, Cobh is probably most famous as the final port of call for the ill-fated Titanic. The town's museum, The Queenstown Story, goes into great detail recalling that ill-fated voyage, as well as the stories of various passengers from other ships that departed from this pretty port. Sad stories are not its only claim to fame however; the town also boasts one of the most impressive cathedrals in the country. Dominating the skyline of this hilly town, it's well worth the trek up the hill to see the inside of this impressive building. The town's attractive colored houses feature on postcards and in many coffee table books on Ireland. It's just a quick train ride from Cork city, and well-worth the journey.
