The name is an ode to the American poet Langston Hughes who started off as a busboy before becoming a famous writer. Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville is their fourth location and it opened its doors in 2011, becoming a popular meeting place for the locals. It is an amalgamation of art, politics and culture by regularly hosting live entertainment, poetry readings and annual rotating exhibits. There is also a book corner showcasing local authors featuring political, fiction to nonfiction books. Whether it is to dine on delish meals which is designed for all palates from vegan to meat eaters or just hangout for a healthy discussion, Busboys and Poets is an affable space that will surely charm you.
Franklin's Brewery, hailed as a local favorite, offers a colorful atmosphere with a wide variety of entrees that are sure to satisfy everyone at the table. Menu selections include home-style, American comfort food like pizza, salads, burgers, and daily specials. Located on the upper level of the restaurant, Franklin's Bar serves up beers from its brewery, specialty martinis and other refreshing mixed drinks. The bi bim bahp, shredded, marinated veggies served over steamed rice with spicy bean paste, is not to be passed up. They also have live entertainment predominantly on weekends that includes pirate singers, sword fighting, belly dancing and fire shows.

Though urban in appearance, this local brewery has done a great job in keeping patrons hooked with the traditional craft beers. The place has a gorgeous outdoor seating area that is perfectly lined with humble tables, chairs and umbrellas, providing just the right environment for enjoy a chilled glass of Southside Rye IPA, American Red Ale, the Pumpkin Porter or Belgian-Style Tripel.
