Prime Lounge is one of the hottest places to party in the city. The lounge is a contemporary place with decor by local artist, Maureen. The wood and white interiors go well with the art and although by day this place is great dining or lunch place, by night it takes on a completely different avatar. When the DJ hits his booth, the visual display coupled with the sound quality and music, the experience will blow your mind. The DJs here at Prime are all extremely good at what they do and are recognized locally or even nationally. It's a great place to celebrate your birthday or even a bachelorette, so do check their website for details about the kind of deal you can make. The venue is also host to a number of big music events like the official 50th Playboy Anniversary party or The John Sutton Band and more. Do visit their website for those and other details.
Petrus is the equivalent of a night-long party in Old Louisville as this club plays on until the wee hours making sure that everyone's having the time of their life. The DJ belts out hip hop through most of the night while the clientele consists mainly of 18 year olds so if this scene doesn't appeal too much, head someplace else. Call for details and timings.
Feeling blue? Stevie Ray's has the cure: signature margaritas, an enthusiastic clientele, and some of the top names in blues music playing every week. Go big on the dance floor and enjoy the tunes of a mixture of well-known and local talent. A small cover charge varies by night of the week, but Thursdays are bike nights - where bikers get in free. Some guests may wish to note that this bar is smoke-friendly.
Hotel Nightclub throbs until the wee hours with the beat of their international DJs. Inside, first-class accommodations, signature mixed drinks, gorgeous decor, and the dazzle of Louisville's bright young things, set Hotel Nightclub in a bracket of its own. Parties can enjoy an exclusive VIP lounge or even rent the entire club. This is one hotel where the party lasts past checkout.
Part lounge, part nightclub, all rock 'n roll." They offer weekly entertainment with live music and DJs.
Their motto is "all fiesta, no siesta." This popular night spot also serves Tex-Mex favorites.
The Phoenix Hill Tavern is in the suburb of the same name and since it is the spot to see macabre metal and rock shows, it's location in front of the Cave Hill Cemetery is rather appropriate. But it isn't only morbid events and music mayhem here, the Phoenix also hosts special charity events and fundraisers that draw in massive crowds each year. There is normally a cover charge, however if you enjoy Marshall stacks turned up to ten, then the charge is usually worth it.
A friendly neighborhood tavern.
Zanzabar is a local institution. Since its opening in 1938 it has changed templates many times, but it has always remained a local watering hole. The recent incarnation has it all, from old-school arcade games and pinball tournament nights to local farm-to-table food and live music, things have surely changed since those prewar days. The food and drinks are outstanding, but a lot of people come just to revert back to their childhood with games like Paperboy, Asteroids, Frogger and Donkey Kong. When you add the live music, this version of Zanzabar appears as if it is the best one in the last 80 years.
