    September 20, 2014 7:30 PM

Iconic American playwright Neil Simon ("The Odd Couple", "Brighton Beach Memoirs") pays tribute to iconic Russian writer Anton Chekhov in "The Good Doctor", a comedic riff on nine of the masterful storyteller's finest short tales. A hit on Broadway when it debuted in 1973, this quirky homage features a troubled narrator battling his own artistic temperament as he shares classic Chekhov stories such as "The Sneeze" and "Surgery," turning them into riveting scenes infused with Simon's blazing wit and flair for memorable characters. Along the way, the narrator seeks help from the audience with his writer's block in this fun, interactive production from Jedlicka Performing Arts Center.

Richard Wright’s classic novel about racial inequality, poverty and the harsh realities of being Black in America is adapted for the stage. Through the tragic tale about the life and criminal trial of African-American youth Bigger Thomas, this play examines the inability to escape from a vicious cycle of violence and poverty in a society that continues to expect stereotypical behavior from African Americans after hundreds of years of oppression.
