Tower House, the oldest building on Bangor's seafront, houses, fittingly enough, the North Down Tourist Information Center. The tower, now overlooking the Marina
and North Pier, was built in the 17th century and is the sole surviving link with Bangor's Scottish founder, James Hamilton. Since its inception as a watchtower in 1637, the building has served as the harbor master's home, a Victorian photographic studio, an antique shop and, from the 1930s to the 1950s, even housed the council's hot sea water baths! Here you'll find everything you need to know about what to see and do, what's on and where to stay in the Bangor and North Down area.
