    Based on the popular 1987 film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, Dirty Dancing the musical brings the coming-of-age story from the big screen to the stage. Often referred to as Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage, the show tells the story of Frances "Baby" Houesman, a young woman who visits a resort with her family and falls in love with the smooth dance instructor Johnny Castle. While Johnny teaches Frances how to dance, tension between her rich family and the locals at the resort begin to rise as the she dives deeper and deeper into his Johnny's convoluted life. In addition to the film's well-known tunes "The Time of My Life" and "Hungry Eyes," Dirty Dancing includes more musical numbers that were originally turned down in the film version.

    Signature Theatre kicks off its 25th anniversary season with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical "Sunday in the Park with George". Inspired by the life of painter George Seurat, the production recreates the world of Seurat's painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte." Through the course of the story, you get to know the painter whose unique vision altered the direction of modern art in France, as his masterpiece depicts members of different social classes enjoying a day out in the park. Through story and brilliant song, "Sunday in the Park with George" brings the figures in the painting to life, and you learn their stories along with that of the artist who immortalized them.
