Alaska's first elected governor was William Egan, and this convention center was named in his honour. It is the state's largest convention and meeting center, with more than 40,000 square feet of conference area. More than a block in length, it features a front wall made entirely of curved glass parallel to Fifth Avenue. The lobby houses a constant display of Native art, including sculptures, beading and carvings. There is no admission fee for viewing the center.
The Phillips Cruises and Tours in the city of Anchorage is a cruise and tour company that offers the 26-Glacier tour to the Prince William Sound. The sound is located off the Gulf of Alaska on the southern coast and the cruise takes off from the port of Whittier, located 60 miles to the south-east. The four and a half hour tour on the three-deck catamaran would take you through approximately 135 mile into the sound covering all the glaciers on the route. Flattop Mountain Shuttle departs from Downtown Bicycle Rental at 4th Avenue and C Street at 1 pm. The shuttle arrives at the trailhead at 1:30 and remains parked. The van departs the trailhead at 4 p.m. and arrives downtown at 4:30. The total cost for a round trip is $22. However, the shuttle only goes up if seven people sign up that day.
