After The Revolution
The Chance TheaterApril 24, 2015 6:00 PM
5552 East La Palma Avenue
Anaheim, CA 92807
Amy Herzog's "After the Revolution" is a smart, funny portrait of a family that must reconcile a thorny and delicate legacy. As we learn during history teacher Ben Joseph's opening speech commemorating his daughter Emma's graduation from law school, the Josephs' political views lean to the far left. Emma is proud of the Marxist tradition her grandfather Joe started, launching a legal fund to fight social injustice and naming it after him. But when evidence of Joe's spying comes to light, the family is forced to confront questions of honesty and allegiances. See this bold drama at the Chance Theater in Anaheim Hills.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, A Musical
La Mirada Theatre for the Performing ArtsApril 24, 2015 8:00 PM
14900 La Mirada Boulevard
La Mirada, CA 90638
Jane Austen's classic romance "Pride and Prejudice" comes to the stage in an acclaimed musical adaptation, in which Austen herself is a character. More popular than ever in the 200 years since its publication, Austen's witty and affecting novel was originally titled "First Impressions" before the work was significantly revised. The story of how Austen came to rework the timeless love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy into the form we know and love today is brought to life through Austen's relationship with her sister, Cassandra, in this "delightful adaptation" ("The New York Times"). A smash hit at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, earning six awards, "Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, a Musical" makes its world premiere.

Swingitup! Biola Dance Party
Biola UniversityApril 24, 2015 9:00 PM

La Mirada, CA 90639
Why Swing? Why do surfers surf, or mountain bikers bike, or snowboarders board? Is it a desire to overcome fear, a desire to push oneself, a desire to flirt with death? It could be a combination of the three, or it could be something completely unique to the given circumstances.  One may never know why people take such risks, but one can tell that in the midst of these risks there is rush and adrenaline. Rush fuel the hearts and minds of athletes, pushing them to their limits, and beckoning them to draw near to adventure. Adrenaline energizes every fiber of exhausted muscle, and pushes it beyond conceivable ends. At the apex of this rush and adrenaline, people feel alive and ready to take on the world and all it is worth. So, in response to the headline question, why swing?, my response would be that it gives people a chance to enter a rush of excitement, and feel the adrenaline of learning a new skill. Inspiration from some of the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myJj0mNNe1Y   This event, taking place on April 24th, 2015 is designed to welcome new and experienced swing dancers to have fun, enjoy the moment and Swing It Up!
