The Permanenten Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum is an art museum in the heart of the city. Built by Henry Bucheruse for the Museum of Decorative Art. »Lepramuseet - Leprosy Museum of St. Georges Hospital

Norway played a huge role in bringing a cure for leprosy and the Lepramuseet - Leprosy Museum of St. Georges Hospital is a fitting place to know about the social stigma and the cure related to this illness. Bergen was the international leprosy capital during the late 19th century and had dedicated hospitals for patients afflicted with this disease. St. George’s Hospital is the oldest of all three and was also a research center. This is where Armauer Hansen, a local physician found the cause of the disease which helped in eradicating leprosy or Hansen's disease throughout the world.

»Bergen Museum

The Bergen Museum is a beautiful history showcase in the city. The museum functions under the University of Bergen and was started in the early 19th century by Wilhelm Frimann Koren Christie. The museum is an epitome when it comes to natural and cultural collections in the area. These are the two departments in the museum that have, over the years, collected a number of relevant and important items concerning the cultural and natural history of the place. Located in the university campus itself, the museum is known to be the largest collection of its kind in the entire country. The exhibits at the museum include cultural memorabilia from communities like those of vikings, Inuit, Eskimo, Baktaman and others, like local folk artwork, tools, costumes, and more. The natural history exhibits put light on skeletal remains creatures like the enormous whales that are much larger than the ones we know of today, geological, zoological and entomological an other findings. »Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Museum)

Gamle Bergen is a reminiscent view of Old Bergen. 19th century Bergen was Europe's largest city. The wooden houses, narrow alleys and city squares, are all very typical of 18th - 20th century rich Bergen architecture that this museum has brought to life.
